Which building codes apply where

Statewide rules, plus the local editions we've verified.

Under the Maryland Building Performance Standards (MBPS), every jurisdiction uses the same edition of the IBC, IRC and IECC, with state modifications. Counties may amend the IBC and IRC locally, but can only make the IECC (energy) and the Maryland Accessibility Code stricter, never weaker. (MD Dept. of Labor, COMAR 09.12.51)
